In loving memory of Ms. Dorothy Louise Bender, who peacefully passed away at the age of 96. Dorothy was born in Jefferson County, Alabama, to Harold Laseter and Mary Clay, on August 31, 1927. She was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by simplicity, quiet strength, and unwavering resilience.
Dorothy navigated life's challenges with grace, having grown up amidst the trials of the Great Depression. Her experiences instilled in her a profound appreciation for the value of hard work and perseverance. These virtues guided her throughout her life, shaping her into the resilient woman she became.
For many years, Dorothy dedicated herself as a secretary for an insurance company. Her commitment to her work was exemplary, and she approached each day with diligence and integrity. Her professionalism and attention to detail left a lasting impression on all those she encountered.
Dorothy's life was deeply enriched by her loving family. She shared many cherished moments with her late husband, Thomas Alva Edison Bender, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Baxter Thomas Bender, and daughters Rebekah McWhorter, Greta Bender, and Karen Minor. Dorothy's legacy also lives on through her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Throughout her life, Dorothy touched the hearts of those around her with her kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will continue to inspire and uplift us.
