Arlyne Singer, 93 passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024. Cherished daughter of the late Esther Singer and late Samuel Singer. Caring sister of the late Gloria Shapiro (late Monroe Shapiro), late Vivian Siporin (late George Siporin). Adored aunt of Hal Shapiro, Rich Siporin (Elizabeth Siporin), Steve Siporin, and the late Robin McLean, great-aunt of Alexandra Ciuffreda (Jonathan Ciuffreda), Samuel Siporin (Meghan Siporin), Michelle Siporin, and Matthew Siporin, and great-great-aunt of Everett Ciuffreda, Margot Ciuffreda, Carter Siporin, Layla Siporin, Sawyer Siporin, and Scarlett Siporin.
Arlyne was born in Brooklyn, NY, and spent 89 years in the vibrant streets of New York City, before later settling in Nanuet for the final years of her life.
Growing up, she attended Samuel J. Tilden High School, where she cultivated a love for learning that would stay with her throughout her life. After completing her education, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Siegelson’s Jewelers, where she dedicated several decades of her life. Starting as an employee, she worked her way up to become a partner in the business, and eventually served as an esteemed advisor, leaving an indelible mark on the company and its patrons.
Outside of her professional life, she found solace and joy in simple pleasures. Reading transported her to different worlds, puzzles challenged her mind, and shopping brought her a sense of excitement. Yet, above all else, her heart belonged to her family.
Her sisters were her pillars of strength, and she cherished every moment spent with them. But it was her role as an aunt that truly defined her life. All her nieces and nephews were the light of her life, and she showered them with love, wisdom, and unwavering support. Whether it was attending their school events, celebrating milestones, or simply lending a listening ear, she was always there, a constant source of warmth and affection.
In the later stages of her life, Arlyne treasured the presence of her dear friend Angie Ordonez, who served as her confidant, loyal friend, and dedicated caretaker. Arlyne expressed heartfelt gratitude to Angie, acknowledging her sacrifices and recognizing that Angie's presence in her life not only extended its length but also greatly enriched its quality.
In her passing, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched forever. Rest in peace, dear Arlyne, your love and legacy endure.
