Born on August 19, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, Skip was the son of Saul and Cecile Spielberg. A lifelong St. Louisan, he grew up in University City and graduated from University City High School. He later attended the University of Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Elaine. Skip and Elaine were married on October 12, 1969 and built a life together centered on family and friendship.
Skip was a true entrepreneur and leader in the women's fashion and handbag industry. He proudly carried forward the legacy of Spielberg Manufacturing, the family business, and went on to build and lead additional successful ventures throughout his career. Known throughout the industry for his vision, integrity, and relationships, Skip helped shape the careers of many people and left a lasting mark on the handbag and fashion business. He was widely respected as an innovator, mentor, and friend.
Skip's greatest pride was always his family. He was a devoted husband to Elaine, a loving father to Tony and Cory, and a proud grandfather to five grandsons who brought him endless joy. Skip treasured every moment with his family.
Skip is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elaine Spielberg; his sons, Tony Spielberg (Lauren), and Cory Spielberg; and his cherished grandsons, Jackson Spielberg, Brody Spielberg, Landon Spielberg, Xander Spielberg, and Julian Spielberg; his beloved sister, Susan Flom (Alan); brother-in-law Ron Bassman (Heidi); and many nieces and nephews.

Skip dedicated himself to serving others. He was passionate about helping those facing food insecurity through his years volunteering at Operation Food Search. He also volunteered at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry, where he gave his time and energy to helping families in need. His commitment to making life better for others reflected the generosity and compassion that defined him.
In recent years, Skip faced Parkinson's disease with remarkable courage and determination. Refusing to let the disease define him, he embraced Rock Steady Boxing and worked tirelessly to maintain his strength and independence. His perseverance inspired everyone who knew him.
Skip was often described as the life of the party, someone who could light up a room with his humor, warmth, and infectious personality. He built friendships that lasted a lifetime. His genuine interest in others and his ability to make everyone feel welcome were among his greatest gifts.
Skip leaves behind a legacy of leadership, generosity, resilience, and love. He was an icon in the women's handbag industry, but even more importantly, he was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
