Jardon, Annemarie Christine neé Castry, 70, died peacefully in her home in Tampa, Florida on Tuesday, April 30, after a long and valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. She was an avid traveler, theatergoer, and collector. She loved sharing life’s many adventures with her family: her husband, Michael, to whom she was married for 39 joyful years, and their three daughters ages 35, 33, and 30.
Annemarie was born in Yonkers, New York on August 9, 1953, to Anthony and Marie Castry. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY in 1971, Annemarie's artistic talent led to her acceptance to The Cooper Union in NYC to study fine arts (Class of 1975). From there, Annemarie’s skills led her down many paths, including spending a summer of college on an archaeological dig at Williamsburg Battlefield, working as a freelance graphic designer, and serving as a District Manager for AT&T for 10 years. She received her MBA from Pace University in 1983.
Annemarie took on various roles in her community, such as volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, actively participating as a member of the National Garden Society, and leading Learning to Look, a program to bring art history into schools. Additionally, she was serving as the Vice President of the New Beginnings Ministry at St. Timothy’s church in Lutz.
Annemarie was deeply devoted to the Catholic Church. Along with attending services and events regularly, she taught religious education for many years, eventually taking a position at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT, and becoming a Confirmation Coordinator for the church. Upon moving to Florida, she was named Director of Religious Education at St. Leo’s Parish in Bonita Springs, FL. She cherished the many dear friends she made through the church.
Annemarie is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Marie Castry (neé Minne), and her husband, Michael Jardon. She is survived by her brother Gerard Castry (Laura), her daughters, Regina Markham (David), Jessica Jardon, and Victoria Holt (Michael), her stepchildren Jennifer Johnson (David) and Christopher Jardon, her step-grandchildren William and Veronica Johnson, and her grandson Hudson Markham.
A visitation for Annemarie will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 17512 Lakeshore Road, Lutz, Florida on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 beginning at 10 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Ave N, Clearwater, Florida 33760.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Annemarie’s memory may be made to Kathys-House.org or St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
