Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Pioneer Chapel with Pastor James “Jim” Benton officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Milton was born June 19, 1925, in Floydada to Milton and Lucy Skipper of McLean. He was married for 62 years to Maurine Skipper, who preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2010.
Milton worked as a police officer for a short while before going to work for P.G.C Feed Co., the company he retired from in 1987. Milton was a church member and loved the Lord. He was also a member of the Lodge and was secretary for many dedicated years there.
He served his country as a member of the Army in World War II and then as a volunteer at the VA Hospital from 1998 to 2017. He traveled many miles to pick up veterans to take them to their health care appointments. He served as the smiling face at the information desk at the VA Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother and two sisters.
Survivors include four sons, N.D. Skipper and wife Ann of Anton, Tenn., C.W. Skipper and wife Jackie of Lubbock, Patrick Skipper and wife Venus of Amarillo and Montie Skipper and wife Mary of West Valley, Utah; a daughter, Shelia Taylor and husband Mitch of Amarillo; and numerous wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Amarillo VA Volunteer Recognition or appreciation.
