Eliseo V Cadawas (Ely) passed away on July 23, 2020 at the age of 87 while residing in Surprise, AZ. He was the devoted husband of Rizalina, the love of his life. Ely and Rosie shared a wonderful, loving marriage of 62 years.
Born in Paete, Laguna, Philippines, Ely was the oldest of 8 children. He is preceded in death by parents Benigno and Conception and siblings Fanny and Olivia. He is survived by siblings Sister Carmela, Aurelia, Jose, Benigno Jr. and Aurea.
Ely was high school class valedictorian then graduated with honors from the University of Mapua School of Engineering in the Philippines where he received a Civil Engineering degree. Shortly thereafter, Ely was fortunate to work and live in many countries which include Afghanistan (20 yrs), Africa (5 yrs), Iran (5 yrs) and Saudi Arabia (5 yrs). Later in his career, Ely was a finance manager for various companies.
After the first 25 years overseas, the opportunity to move and work in the United States was a decision Ely and Rosie made for their family of three young children. Durham, NC was their destination. Ely also worked and lived in Baltimore, MD and Phoenix, AZ.
Ely was an active member of the Phil-Am community in Durham/Raleigh, NC and a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church. Ely and Rosie loved to travel and visited 38 countries while living overseas.
Ely will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosie, their children Rowena & husband Bill, Roselie, and Rodney & wife Shavon, four grandchildren, Matthew & wife Stephanie, Dana & husband Clint, Gage, and McKena, & three great grandchildren, Caleb, Cooper and Liam.
