Judy was preceded in death by: father, Jack; mother, Mamie; sisters, Jacqulyn and Deborah. Judy is survived by: sons, Steven and Brent Thompson; granddaughter, Ashley Thompson; grandson, Jack Thompson; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Judy graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in three years from East Texas State University, graduating in 1968. After teaching high school in South Carolina for one year, she returned to Texas, furthering her education, obtaining her Master’s degree, also at East Texas State, in 1971. In that same year, Judy began her career teaching on the college level, as she was hired by Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, justifying a relocation. Judy remained at Cameron, until she moved to Spring, Texas in 1982 and began her Journey with North Harris County College. The name has since changed to Lone Star College – North Harris. During her tenure at Lone Star College, Judy has held several prestigious positions, climbing the ladder to achieve: Dean of Math, Health Sciences, and Engineering. Nonetheless, in her heart-of-hearts, she was always a Math Professor--FIRST AND FORMOST, where she continued her passion, up until she died.
She was a healthy, able bodied woman. However, on Saturday, February 8, a hemorrhagic stroke took her by surprise. She held on for a few days, but Judy drew her last breath at 9:07 AM on Monday, February 10, 2020.
