Carol was born August 18, 1938, in Jackson, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Earl Lester Mahaffey and Thelma Katherine Russell Mahaffey.
Carol's faith was important to her and she faithfully read her Bible each evening before she went to sleep. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Utica where she enjoyed playing piano for services. She also attended Briarhill Baptist Church in Florence, and when she was unable to attend church she watched Rev. Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Unfailingly supportive of her husband, Tommy, she worked side-by-side with him for many years in their business, Tommy Johnson Equipment. Her favorite moments were spent with her family, especially visit from them in recent years.
Carol had a true appreciation for nature and delighted in the time she spent in her yard, riding her golf cart around her property. A true animal lover, she lovingly took care of not only her pets but fed the many birds and squirrels that visited her yard.
In addition to her parents Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas C. Johnson.
Survivors include daughter, Cynthia Johnson; sons, Mike Johnson and wife Robin, and Steve Johnson; grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Jr., Jennifer Johnson, Kody Johnson, and Kayla Johnson; great-grandchildren, River McKenzie Johnson, and Evelyn and Emry Creel; and her canine companion, Bella.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1:00pm, Monday, April 19, 2021, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment services at the Memorial Pavilion of Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
