Agnes Doyle, “Aggie,” age 80, died May 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Somerset and the daughter of the late Lt. James L. Doyle, MA State Police and Olive (Lindo) Doyle.
She is survived by her son, Korey J.P. Doyle and his wife Cheryl; grandson, Alexander Doyle; two sisters, Colleen Nobrega and her husband, retired Somerset PD Richard G. Nobrega, Karen J. Doyle all of Somerset; one brother, Kevin J. Doyle of Fall River and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset, she enjoyed travelling, leisurely reading, crossword puzzles and visiting often with her grandson.
Aggie was an elementary school teacher in Providence and a representative for the teachers union, for thirty years before her retirement in 1990.
She had a number of exemplary accomplishments in her life. She was the first woman President of St. Vincent de Paul Society and was past secretary of the League of Women Voters. She volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, Camp Kyle, Diabetic Camp, Fall River Soup Kitchen, and the Salvation Army Winter Hospitality Center.
She was the Director of Education for A.R.C. (United Way) and presented lectures to guests for the Greater Fall River area, grade three. She was also the founder and first Woman of the Year of the RI Women’s Association and served on the boards for the Big Brother Organization and the St. Peter and Paul School.
Aggie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Class of 1958 and remained on their Alumni committee. She attended Salve Regina University and graduated from Mt. St. Mary College in Newburg, NY. She continued on to receive her Master’s degree from both Providence and Rhode Island Colleges.
Her humor and dimples will be greatly missed.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10:00AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St. Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the Somerset Berkley Education Foundation, 580 Whetstone Hill Rd., Somerset, MA 02726. Burial private.
