Cremations in Clayton

Signature Dedication at McLaurin Funeral Home & Pinecrest Memorial ParkThere are many options for cremation in Clayton—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With space for outdoor services, expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none. What's more: McLaurin Funeral Home was the first funeral home in Johnston County with an on-site crematory, and we can accommodate a witness cremation, if that's your family's wish.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

If you're interested in a lasting remembrance of your loved one, Pinecrest Memorial Park and nearby Knollwood Memorial Park offer cremation cemetery options.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

History

Pinecrest Memorial Gardens was established in 1965. Nearly a decade later, in 1974, McLaurin Funeral Home was built on the property. The following year, Jimmy D. McLaurin purchased Pinecrest Memorial Gardens and eventually changed the name to Pinecrest Memorial Park.

McLaurin Funeral Home and Pinecrest Memorial Park then became sister locations, giving families the convenience of taking care of funeral, cremation and burial arrangements in one place.

In 1982, construction began on the first addition to the beautiful Chapel Mausoleum. Since then, three additions have been constructed, allowing for more than 650 crypts and niches. That made Chapel Mausoleum the largest in Johnston County. In 2011, recognizing the demand for even more mausoleum space, we built Faith Mausoleum.

Knollwood Memorial Park

Cemetery grounds at Knollwood Memorial ParkIn 1988, McLaurin purchased Knollwood Memorial Park, about 9 miles southeast of the funeral home, on Highway 70. The cemetery was established in the early 1940s for World War II veterans. McLaurin gave it a refresh, working with landscaping artists to develop the cemetery with a gardenlike feel. The office of Knollwood Memorial Park is at McLaurin Funeral Home.
