College Corner funeral home with a heart

Chapel at Showalter Blackwell Funeral HomeAs a locally operated funeral home in College Corner, our caring team provides the small-town care families expect and need. Our funeral directors take the time to get to know each family we serve, so we can create a tribute that honors your loved one. It's this commitment to the community that enables us to build trusting, long-lasting relationships while providing the guidance you need.

At Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, we understand that planning a funeral—especially after the loss of a loved one—can seem overwhelming. That's why we focus on individual attention and assisting families through each step of the funeral planning process. Whether you prefer a traditional funeral, cremation with memorial service or contemporary celebration of life, we'll be there every step of the way.

Share your stories

We believe funeral and memorial services should reflect individuality and represent each person's journey. As we work to plan a fitting funeral or cremation with memorial service, we welcome you to share details about your loved one. Did they enjoy the outdoors, were they active in a charity or did they serve in the military? Whatever their passions, we'll find ways to weave those elements into a service that showcases their life with respect and care.

In addition, our funeral home team will explain funeral costs, help write obituaries, arrange catering and other important aspects that will help guests fondly remember the memorial service and their experience for years to come.

Our commitment

Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home welcomes people from all walks of life. It's our honor to serve the community, so please call or come by to learn about your options with our welcoming funeral home in College Corner.

History

In 1968, John Showalter and his wife, the former Judith Holtel, purchased the Baker Funeral Home with locations in College Corner and Liberty. The funeral home was previously owned by David and Nadene Baker and Riley Miller.

In 1978, Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Chapels was formed with John's long-time friend and associate, J. Michael Blackwell, and his wife, the former Sandy Howe of Connersville.

In 1998, the funeral home recognized Joel Long's commitment to the business and the community, changing the name to Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel.

Today, Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, offering compassionate care and personalized service you can trust.
