Barry was born and raised in Athens, Alabama. After high school, Barry attended Jefferson State Community College, earning an associate degree in funeral service education. Having served over 3 decades in the funeral industry, Barry loves the opportunity to help families of Madison County and surrounding areas as a valuable part of our team.
Barry's funeral career began on January 15, 1984 at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens, Alabama, beginning as an apprentice and, after completing mortuary school, was promoted to funeral director and embalmer. He served in that position until 1992, when he was promoted to location manager.
After serving the Athens Community at McConnell’s for 26 years, Barry transferred to Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in 2009, where he served as general manager for almost 5 years, before relocating to serve in his current position as general manager for 3 area locations.
Kelly A Russell
Assistant Manager Kelly Russell has served on our team since November 2014 and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Kelly is a graduate of Jefferson State Community College, where she obtained her degree in mortuary science. She was chosen as a Century Club member in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Her greatest joy is serving families during a very difficult time in their lives.
Prior to working in the funeral industry she held various administrative roles in several types of businesses. Kelly grew up in north Georgia and relocated in 2006 to Huntsville, where she and her husband currently reside. They have 4 children, 2 granddaughters and more grandchildren to come. She enjoys being outdoors, traveling, playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She has an incredible love for God and the people she serves. Kelly and her husband are members of Willowbrook Baptist Church in Huntsville. Kelly is a University of Georgia Bulldog fan and cheers, "GO DAWGS!!"
Beverly M Burch
Beverly Moss Burch is a native of Tennessee. She and her husband resided in Las Vegas prior to relocating to Huntsville in 2010. They have three children, one of whom is an awesome son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Beverly is a graduate of Austin Peay State University, Trevecca Nazarene (College) University and Jefferson State Community College (Jeff State). Her career in teaching consisted of 14 years in elementary education and two years in adult education. Beverly began a career in the funeral service industry while her husband was on military assignment in Birmingham, AL in August of 1999. While in Birmingham, she served as an apprentice with Smith and Gaston Funeral Services and later as a funeral director/embalmer. After graduating from Jeff State with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service Education, she received licensure as an Alabama Funeral Director/Embalmer. Beverly then moved to Las Vegas, NV and was soon employed as an arrangement director by Palm Mortuaries, Cemeteries and Crematories (Palm). While in Nevada, she received licensure as a Nevada Funeral Director/Embalmer. Her tenure with Palm spanned a little over eight years. In Nov., 2013, Beverly became an associate of Valhalla Funeral Home (Huntsville) and presently serves in the position of funeral director. She earned the distinction of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) in Oct., 2016. Beverly is a member of the Fellowship of Faith Church, the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice and a state and national member of Alabama Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, Inc. and member of the National Funeral Directors Association. Beverly has a love for reading the Word and spending time with her family; a passion for serving bereaved families and a compassion for assisting those in need. She enjoys working as a volunteer and watching movies with happy endings.
Charles D Craig
Charles Dennis Craig born in Limestone County, Alabama to L.D. Craig and Helen Lovell Craig. Married to Beverly Ann Craig of Hartselle, Alabama. They have been married for 13 years, Charles and Beverly live in the East Limestone Community. They have three children and six grandchildren. Charles enjoys fishing, hunting, gardening, golf and Alabama Football. Charles and Beverly are members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Monrovia area. He has been in the Funeral Business for over 30 years. He loves helping families in time of need. Some of his rewards with SCI are Century Club Member for the past two years, 3rd Quarter 2014 Dignity Take-up-Rate Leader 100% Main Street East. In 2013, he was #3 out of all of Main Street East on Take-up Rate. He became part of the Valhalla Funeral Home staff as a Licensed Funeral Director, after working at our sister firm, Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama for four years.
Eric Garcia Hernandez
Originally from Sweetwater, Texas, Eric started his career in the funeral industry in 2011 as a funeral assistant in San Antonio, Texas working different aspects of the funeral home until earning his Funeral Director’s license in 2013. Eric comes from Abilene, Texas to join the team at Valhalla Funeral Home and looks forward to continuing to serve families every step of the way in providing care to those who have experienced a loss. He was chosen as a Century Club member in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Eric is a new resident of Huntsville, Alabama. In his spare time, he enjoys relaxing with his wife Rendi and their five dogs, going out with friends, and learning the area.
