History

Noland Road Chapel has a long history tied to Independence, Missouri, and its wonderful people.

Family tradition since the 1800s

Christian Ott Sr. settled in Independence, Missouri, in 1849. He owned a furniture store and funeral home on the northeast corner of Independence Square. Following Christian’s death, his son, Henry Joseph Ott, took over the furniture and funeral home businesses. Henry later sold the furniture store and focused solely on the funeral home business. Rubey B. Mitchell later joined him in the business and the funeral home name was changed to Ott and Mitchell Funeral Home. Rubey was connected to the funeral home for more than 60 years until his death.

Later years

In the early 60s, we moved to our present Noland Road location where we continue to serve Independence families. Today, we are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. We always give quality, compassionate care and service you can trust.
