History

Carothers Funeral Home has served the Dallas community with their funeral and memorial services for over 80 years. Our dedication to exceptional service has enabled us to build strong relationships with families in Gaston County, North Carolina.

Original location

Carothers Funeral Home was established in 1928 by Ervin S. Carothers on Page Street in Gastonia. Several years later, C.T. Settlemeyer purchased a portion of the funeral business, creating Carothers and Settlemeyer Funeral Home, which later moved into the former T.W. Wilson home on Franklin Avenue.

Tailored funeral and memorial services

The funeral home was later sold to the brothers of Ervin Carothers: J. C. Carothers Sr. and E. Woodrow Carothers Sr. The brothers expanded Carothers Funeral Home to Belmont, Mt. Holly and Stanley.

In 1954, Carothers was the 1st to construct a new building that was designed specifically as a funeral home. The new funeral home was located at 312 West 2nd Ave., where it remained until 2014.

Former ambulance services

Carothers Funeral Home has been taking care of the community since the very beginning. As was common with funeral homes of the period, Carothers Funeral Home operated a large fleet of ambulances to serve communities in Gaston County. The ambulance service continued until 1974 when modern emergency medical services came into being.

Also in 1974, Dallas Funeral Home was purchased from Blair Falls Houser, and in 1985, Carothers-Williams Corporation was formed, which added Gaston Memorial Park and Hillcrest Gardens to the family.

Our legacy continues

Today, we're proud to offer a full-service funeral home for your burial and cremation needs. Through our services, we help families honor their loved ones and receive support from family and friends in a comfortable environment.
