The history of R.S. Kane Funeral Home spans more than six decades. In 1950, Robert Simpson Kane and Gwendolyn Eadie Fraser were married and shortly thereafter purchased Fred Myers Funeral Home, located at 4812 Yonge Street. They took up residence on the second floor of the funeral home and began serving the community with attention to detail and a penchant for hard work.
The area saw significant growth in the 1970s, resulting in the need for a new funeral home space. After several years of planning, the new business opened at 6150 Yonge Street in 1985.
Today, R.S. Kane is part of the Dignity Memorial® network, the largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services in North America. John R. Kane, the eldest son of Gwen and the late Robert, remains an integral part of the staff that upholds a tradition of high standards and service excellence.
