About

Shadow Mountain Mortuary provides quality funeral home and cremation services for the families of Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun. For nearly 50 years, our commitment to service excellence has remained unchanged even as our professional team has responded to the changing needs of the community.

An accommodating Phoenix funeral home

Celebration of life venue for services, gatherings and receptions at Shadow Mountain MortuaryLocated on Greenway Road, near Paradise Plaza, Shadow Mountain Mortuary has one of the larger funeral chapels in Phoenix. It seats up to 200 guests and can be configured for groups large and small. Our reception room is a convenient place for a gathering before or after a service.

With on-site catering services, we can host a formal sit-down dinner, breakfast buffet or passed hors d’oeuvres. Time with family and friends can be as simple or elaborate as you wish.

Personalized funerals and memorials

How will you honor your loved one’s legacy? At Shadow Mountain Mortuary, we are experts at creating unique and memorable tributes that celebrate a person’s passions and personality.

If your loved one was a world-class grill master, we can put together a celebratory cookout. Maybe her recipes for blueberry pie and buttermilk pound cake are worthy of a dessert buffet? We can display a collection of paintings or quilts, dress up in sports jerseys or theatrical costumes, or have a dove release.

From small details like photos and funeral favors to custom decor and a live band—whatever the case may be—we can craft a memorial that warms hearts, lifts spirits and deeply reflects the life of your loved one.

We offer many planning ideas and resources.

Cremation in Phoenix

Signature Dedication at Shadow Mountain MortuaryThere are many options for cremation in Phoenix—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

And for those who wish for something more momentous, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. Or a Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

History

Shadow Mountain MortuaryAfter returning from service in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, Lee Scott founded Shadow Mountain Mortuary in 1974.

Lee and his team were deeply involved in the Phoenix community. They were members of organizations such as hospital boards, the Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Funeral Directors Association, Rotary International, Masonic Lodge #61, Order of the Eastern Star and the Phoenix Boys Choir. They also provided funeral services to the fallen heroes of local police departments, usually without charge to their families.

Recognizing that the Dignity Memorial® family held similar values and pledged dedication to service excellence and community involvement, Lee sold Shadow Mountain Mortuary to the network. For many years after this change, for as long as his health allowed, Lee continued to contribute to the work that Shadow Mountain does in the community.

We're proud to uphold our founder's legacy and have been recognized many times for our dedication to the families of Phoenix, Scottsdale and the Upper Valley area.
