About

Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens provides cemetery services in Suffolk, Virginia, with a personal touch. We aim to meet both your needs and your wishes with burial options that reflect your individual style.

Beautiful choices for remembrance

Cemetery grounds at Meadowbrook Memorial and Cremation GardensBegin your tour of Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens at the Garden of Christ, our first and largest garden. Here, you’ll find featured art hand-sculpted in Italy from marble extracted from the quarry in Carrara, where Michelangelo sourced marble for his famous works such as the Pieta and David. The Cross Garden features hand-sculpted art of the same provenance. The Eternity Garden, developed by the Dudley family, features a functional bronze sundial set in a granite base. The sidewalk linking these gardens forms a cross, with features at its center.

Island Estates, located at the center of our park, offers ground burial estates accommodating from two to four people each. Lined with palm trees and yellow rock, Island Estates offers an opportunity for those close in life to rest comfortably in an environment that emulates a serene beach setting.

Magnolia Cremation Garden

Magnolia Cremation Garden, our first garden providing burial for cremated remains, surrounds our spectacular southern Magnolia tree, which welcomes those entering or exiting our gardens by car. Cremation benches and cremation pedestals of all types welcome visitors throughout our gardens, and niche columbariums can be found throughout the park.

Masonic Garden

Our Masonic Garden features a curved column from the White House in Washington, D.C. prior to remodeling. Roy Dudley had the Masonic Emblem etched into the column. Its pink marble urn was hand-carved in Italy.

Private mausoleums

Private/semi-private estate at Meadowbrook Memorial and Cremation GardensThe first mausoleum constructed in Hampton Roads offers private family rooms. Among those interred in our private family rooms are local PGA Hall of Fame golfer, Chandler Harper and his wife, noted philanthropists in child-oriented charities in our community. Private four-person Hedge Estate ground burials surround our mausoleum areas. We also offer private and build-to-suit mausoleums for additional distinctiveness and privacy.

Our open-air chapel offers outdoor services and shelter from the elements. Meticulous landscaping and natural Virginia greenery create the ideal environment for remembrance.

History

In 1960, Mr. Roy Dudley borrowed $6000 to create Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, a 90-acre cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. Governor Mills Godwin served on the early Board of Governors for the cemetery, while Mrs. Dudley fulfilled duties as the resident horticulturist.

The Dudleys would meet at Bennett's Creek Nursery, select flowers, trees and shrubs and together they would plant the greenery on the cemetery grounds. The pair possessed a unique eye for beauty and a commitment to creating spaces that would service families for generations. We are dedicated to continuing their vision.
