Our beautiful facility
We have a traditional chapel with a modern design and feel. This inviting space is the creation of warm colour tones like cream and yellow. The chapel has a rounded roof that is phenomenal in terms of acoustics. For any ceremony where music or singing will happen, this is an ideal location. The chapel comfortably seats up to 250 people. It is the largest chapel in the Vancouver area.
We also can accommodate larger services of up to 400 people with our overflow into our reception and lounge areas. These additional spaces are equipped with visual and audio hookups to view the ceremony in real time. For family and friends who can’t physically come to Vancouver, we also offer live streaming where you can watch the ceremony from anywhere around the world. Many of our immigrant families love this option for family members back home in distant countries.
The chapel is nondenominational. However, we offer a variety of religious symbols if you’d like to include religious elements into the funeral service. Our chapel is also known for our beautiful stained glass artwork, The Tree of Life.
Adjacent to the chapel is the South Lounge, which is a large visitation suite. The South Lounge can also be used as a chapel for more intimate services of smaller numbers. This area is ideal for those who would prefer solitude and privacy. The visitation suite can also be separated into 2 smaller suites for evening visitations if you so choose.
Our entire facility is wheelchair accessible, which is an important factor for our elderly and physically challenged visitors.
Celebration of life
We want every family to know they have the ability to truly personalize a ceremony for their loved one. While the staff at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel is well versed in traditional funeral services, we also offer a variety of services to memorialize each life. One popular option is our celebration of life ceremony.
Our trained staff celebrants speak with family and friends to learn what made the life of their loved one unique. Our celebrants then design a celebratory event around the hopes, passions and personality of that loved one. This personalization can manifest in many different ways. One man was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider and played in a rock band. For his ceremony, we arranged for his motorcycle to be displayed in the chapel while his band played a concert.
This is just one example of personalized services. If you’re interested in a celebration of life ceremony, feel free to let our staff know and we’ll take you through the entire process.
Burial and transportation options
While we do not perform our own burials, we work closely with many local cemeteries, including Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Ocean View Burial Park. We are willing and able to conduct graveside services at multiple cemeteries and churches.
We understand many Vancouver people may wish to be buried elsewhere, especially in our Aboriginal and Asian communities. Our staff is very well versed in handling the dignified transportation of earthy remains around the world.
Multicultural and Asian services
We serve people of all cultures and backgrounds. Glenhaven Memorial Chapel is especially experienced at funeral and memorial services for the Chinese, Japanese, Buddhist, Christian and Indigenous communities. Our staff speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. We’ve found our multilingual staff members to be especially useful for families where multiple languages are spoken.
Our location is less than a mile away from our rich Chinatown in Vancouver. For our Asian populations, we have service packages to accommodate the traditional funeral customs. This includes a range of elements, including burning offerings and lycee. For Buddhist, we can conduct table sits, incense burning and other customs of the religion.
In addition to being an important cultural part of many we serve, more and more people are choosing cremation over more traditional burial options. Our crematorium is designed to accommodate families who wish to have a cremation viewing, also known as witness cremations. Please feel free to ask us more about this option if you’re interested.
Glenhaven Memorial Chapel recognizes its role and responsibility to improving our community. We are proud to call ourselves neighbours in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Our staff is heavily involved in the community, including volunteering, donating and fundraising. We work closely with other funeral homes and religious organizations to advance our community.
Glenhaven Memorial Chapel supports diverse groups in our community. Additionally, we proudly support the Vancouver Men’s Choir and the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation. We also support our Indigenous and First Nations neighbours, including sponsoring local soccer and lacrosse teams in those communities. We are involved with “A Loving Spoon” program, helping to deliver meals to the less financially fortunate, working closely with local women’s shelters. We also help with their fundraising events.
In the Asian community, we are active with SUCCESS. We recognize this program’s importance in helping members of the Asian community with support in every aspect of life, from new immigrants to seniors who have been here their entire lives. We help SUCCESS raise funds to provide these valuable services, especially at their Chinese Opera event.
We support many other organizations who want, like us, to improve our community. If you have an organization or cause we might be able to help, please contact us to see what we can do for your group.

"Should share route of funeral procession with family family was lost -should have been informed of visitation of another family occurring at the same time as our visitation called stress and rush."
"Appointments was 1 day after loved one's death. I was not thinking clearly. I did question the cost being very high, was asked if I could pay, unfortunately I said yes! I would have expected a paper )..."See More
