    Matthew Bartel

    Funeral Director

    Matthew started working in the funeral business part time in 1993 and became a licensed funeral director in 1997. Matthew feels strongly about recognizing and remembering each individual in a funeral ceremony or memorial service that reflects his or her interests and ultimately meets the needs of that person's family.

    Matthew was raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, and moved to Winnipeg in 1990.

    Matthew has a bachelor's degree in music and plays bass guitar and sings tenor in various groups. His other interests include law enforcement, politics and Ram trucks. He and his family attend Eastview Community Church.

    Christopher Bowskill

    Funeral Director

    Christopher Aaron Bowskill entered into funeral service in 1996 in rural Manitoba. He commonly goes by Aaron in his day-to-day life. He graduated from Humber College in Ontario. He holds funeral director and embalmer licenses in both Ontario and Manitoba.

    Aaron began his career in Winnipeg at Thomson Funeral Home in 2002 after moving from Ontario. He lives in the community of Fort Garry in Winnipeg.

    Aaron is married with 2 children and takes an active role in their social activities, such as dance, baseball and CrossFit.

    Sarah Coulson

    Funeral Director

    Sarah was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and moved to Winnipeg to complete high school. She began her career with Thomson in the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in 2007. She worked various jobs there until enrolling in the apprenticeship program at Canadian College of Funeral Service. Sarah graduated as valedictorian of her class and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the spring of 2016.

    As a funeral services provider, Sarah’s goal is to treat every family as she would her own. She says she is honoured by the trust families place in her.

    Sarah’s greatest pleasure is spending time with her family and volunteering as a leader for her daughter’s Brownie group.

    John Davidson

    Funeral Director

    John has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since the early 1990s. He has an open and caring approach and is committed to honouring the wishes and memories of those who have passed.

    John’s father's passing helped lead him to his career path and continues to inform how he serves families who have suffered losses.

    John is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. He finds joy in gardening, cooking and spending time at the lake.

    Shane Lilley

    Funeral Director

    Shane started his career in his hometown of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, in 2003. He graduated from the Canadian College of Funeral Service in 2005. He began his career at our funeral home after moving back to Winnipeg in August of 2015.

    Shane finds pride in being able to bring comfort and tranquility to the families who place their trust in him. He is an avid hockey fan, and he proudly spends his free time coaching his son’s hockey teams in their spring leagues.

    Kristeen Nicole Thiessen

    Funeral Director

    Saskatchewan born and raised, Kristeen graduated from the funeral services program at Sask Polytechnic in 2007. A licensed funeral director and embalmer since 2009, she strongly believes in tailoring services to reflect a person’s life and knows firsthand the comfort a truly personalized service brings to a family.

    Kristeen relocated to Winnipeg in 2016. In her spare time, she chases after her active little boy and is a passionate hockey and football fan.

    Richard Wankling

    Funeral Director

    Since the 1980s, Richard Wankling has provided peace and comfort to families in Winnipeg. Born and raised in Winnipeg, he earned his diploma in mortuary science through the Western School of Mortuary Science. He prides himself in the knowledge and experience he has gained over the years.

    Richard spent 6 years prior to 1987 managing the cemetery formerly known as Garry Memorial Park, where Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery was built in 2003.

    He finds time to support local sports teams with a special interest in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, for whom he is a season ticket member. Richard also spends time with family and friends.
