This was during the Stalin years and life in Russia was very difficult, especially for Christians. Due to much persecution, fear and very unstable conditions in their homeland, Abe’s parents fled the country with their three young children.
After a difficult seven month journey, the family finally arrived in Canada. Abe was now seven years old. He began grade 1 knowing no English. However, he learned quickly and did well in his studies.
Abe accepted the Lord as his Saviour on July 18, 1936. He later attended Bible School in Yarrow for three winters and faithfully served the Lord as he was able – teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and serving on Church Council and various committees.
He had a very good work ethic and during his lifetime held various types of jobs including farming, selling Real Estate for seven years, Christian bookstore owner and operator, Credit Union Manager and finally accountant for School District #33 for seventeen years.
Following his retirement, he continued to work long hours in helping many people with his God – given gift of massage.
Abe was predeceased by his parents, Abram and Elizabeth Fast, his first wife, Sophie and two sisters, Frieda and Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and his sister Nettie as well as his five children Viola, Edward, Irene, Daniel, and David, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
On March 2, 2015, the Lord called Abe home to glory and to his eternal reward.
