Agnes Falk (Krahn) was born on March 9, 1921 in the village of Friedensfeld , Chortiza , Russia to Heinrich and Maria Krahn (Klassen). She had 2 older siblings Tina and Frank and her younger brothers and sisters were Henry, John, Mary, Lydia and Jacob.
Along with her extended family, she immigrated to Canada in 1923. Her first 14 years in Canada were lived in various rural settings in Saskatchewan. Her father taught at a private school in Wymark SK. Agnes was close to her father and this early exposure to education likely contributed to awaken her interest in learning. She went to school until grade 8 and then needed to work to help the family financially. Agnes longed for education and in 1936 attended a local Bible School where she began her relationship with Jesus Christ.
In the Fall of 1937, the family uprooted itself from the Prairies and moved to BC where Agnes was baptized in 1938. Agnes later worked in Vancouver and took evening classes at Vancouver Bible School. This was a treasured time of learning, reflection and wondering. Returning to the Fraser Valley, she attended South Abbotsford MB Church where she met her future husband Jake Falk in 1940.
Engagement and marriage followed along with the birth of 7 children between 1942 and 1958. Life was busy for Agnes with farming, gardening, household chores, and church. Raising this large family demanded much attention. The social life in those years surrounded family, cousins, and friends from South Abbotsford.
Agnes worked hard caring for her many children, grandchildren, as well as her mother Maria. At times Agnes went to work outside the home which she enjoyed very much. She remained thoughtful, self-reflective and a keen learner into her old age.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Jake in 1989 followed by daughters Judy, Miriam and son Jim, daughter-in-law Linda, grandson-in-law Andrew.
Sons Ron, Bob (Elaine), daughter-in-law Betty, Jack (Susan) and daughter Karen, her brother Jacob and many grandchildren and great grandchildren survive her.
The family is very appreciative of the Tabor Home for the care they provided Agnes in the final years of her life.
