Allan James YOUNG

28 November, 196421 July, 2020

Allan Young of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away on July 21, 2020 at the age of 55.

Allan is survived by his ever loving wife Kim, daughter Mackenzie, step children Josh and Ethan, parents Jake and Christine, brother Iain, and sister Karen as well as extended family and friends. Allan was predeceased by his mother Nancy.

Allan was born in Dumbarton, Scotland to parents Jake and Nancy Young. He played just about every sport in school, and was even good at a few, including football, volleyball and golf. Allan was born a Rangers fan and he remained a Rangers fan for the rest of his life. Allan was “Blue” through and through.

Allan proudly served in the Royal Navy and after four years he and the Royal Navy amicably parted ways. Allan moved to Canada and began a career with the Toronto Police Service. After learning that there were actually habitable cities in Canada, he moved to Abbotsford where he began a stellar career with the Abbotsford Police Department. Allan served in Patrol and spent a large portion of his career in the Drug Enforcement Unit. Legend has it that Allan’s nose could smell a marijuana grow op better than a blood hound tracking a fugitive.

Allan had a personality that would leave everyone he met feeling happier. To know Allan was to love Allan. He will be forever missed, forever loved and forever remembered.

An open house for Allan Young will be held on Sunday, August 9th, 2020 at Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home located at 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford between the hours of 11:30am and 6:00pm.

A blonde little boy
Who melted my heart
Only eight years between us
But closer than that

We bickered like siblings
And gave our gran grief
When I cut your hair
You screamed us all deef

We went on a witch-hunt
But had to give up
Cos you said you saw one
So home for a cup

The last time we chatted
Was just weeks ago
I knew you were happy
With your beloved Kim in tow

Fly high in the sky cuz
Give Nancy a hug

Will miss you forever 💔

We had the pleasure of meeting up with Allan and Kim on their last vacation around BC. Although we hadn't seen them since their wedding day, almost a year ago, it didnt take long before everyone had a smile on their face. For the people who hadn't known Allan, they felt his kind, easygoing, fun vibe right away. Allan and Kim were so happy together enjoying seeing family. We will cherish that meeting with them forever, our hearts broke when we heard the tragic news, we couldnt believe it,. How life can change so quick. RIP Allan, you were an outstanding man. Kim, you are in our thoughts and we all pray for you to move through this unexplainable grief you are going through.
Sincerely ,
Wayne + Lynn

I remember the first time we met you eating the buffalo chicken sandwich which you would always order from that point on. The laughs we shared, there has been so many over the years to many to mention. Eagle one on the perch will never come through on my phone again I will miss our daily banter or trips to Seattle to watch Chelsea play the joy you brought to my life. You were one of a kind. You would always be looking for the next get rich quick scheme. "This time next year" .Till we meet again pal may you rest in peice now and watch over your loved ones.

Now that I've had a drink, I feel I have the confidence, like most people do when they've had a drink, to pay my respects and share my feelings about my uncle Allan. He was funny, he was like-able and he had a heart bigger than the ocean that separated us. You met him once and you had a friend for life. Allan was a man of integrity, loyalty and family. Allan made a stranger a friend and a friend a part of the family. My anger and my sadness will never reach the heights of love I had for my Uncle Allan. Rest easy Allan, and if there is something after this life then I promise I will meet you.

Absolutely gutted, met Allan for first time last year , should've met him 30yrs ago as we moved in the same circles in Scotland, and gutted that I didn't have more time knowing this guy, who brightened every room he entered, funny funny guy, we just hit it off, and although it was a short meeting I really grew very fond of him, and Kim his lovely wife , I feel so so sad for Kim, all his Canadian family, and friends, ............. I'm devastated!
He was the best guy on the planet, not just this planet............. any planet!
