Mr. Amarjit Singh Dhaliwal

Amarjit Singh Dhaliwal was born on November 30th 1948 in Burj Hari Singh, Punjab, India to Boota Singh and Pritam Kaur. He had a love for education and his paternal grandmother (Dadhi Ma) For this reason he spent majority of his childhood in Halvara. He excelled in school and went to GHG Khalsa College Guru Sar Sudhar, Ludhiana where he received a masters degree in English. In 1972, he married his life-long partner, Charnjit Kaur. The next year, they were sponsored to immigrate to Canada by his sister-in-law, Sukhdev Kaur and Sarpanch Gurmit S. Kondolay. Once in Canada, Amarjit worked extremely hard to sponsor the rest of his family and other relatives from India.

Amarjit was the proud father of two daughters, Amy and Ruby. He was a devoted father that instilled the importance of education into his daughters at an early age by teaching them how to read, write, and arithmetic. He also taught them key values by which he lived daily, these included: hard work, honesty, loyalty, respect and perseverance. His hobbies included gardening, photography, reading for knowledge, and spending quality time with his grandson, Maxum.

On Saturday, June 12th, Amarjit passed away in his sleep at the Abbotsford Hospital. He spent many years battling Sarcoidosis, (please see insert). He is remembered by his loving wife of almost 40 years Charnjit K, daughters Amy K Mahil (Gurpreet S.) and Ruby K. Sidhu (Surinder S.), grandson; Maxum Sidhu. He will be sadly missed by his father Chaudry Boota Singh Dhaliwal; his brothers Surjit S.(Amarjit K.), Sarbjit S. (Gurmeet K.), Parmjit S. (Shinderpal K.), and Jagmohanjit S. (Rashpal K.); and sisters Amarjit K. (Bhajan S.), Kulwant K. (Manjit S.), and Gunwant K. (Chamkaur S.) He is also lovingly remembered by brother-in-law, Amarjit S. (Rajinder K.) of USA, sister-in-law, Amarjit K. (Gurdip S.) of India and all other family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amarjit Singh Dhaliwal at the age of 61. He is remembered by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Charnjit K, daughters, Amy K Mahil (Gurpreet S) and Ruby K Sidhu (Surinder S), and grandson, Maxum S.

He came to Canada in 1973 and settled in Abbotsford. He worked extremely hard until he was diagnosed with sarcoidosis and was forced to retire. Amarjit loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson, reading, gardening, and photography. He will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, and generosity. You could not find a more loyal and loving husband, father, or friend. You will be missed greatly.
