Anna Zamrykut

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Zamrykut (Warachka). Wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Anne passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with family at her side at Mission Memorial Hospital, in Mission B.C., on September 2, 2026.

Mom was born on December 18, 1939, in Malonton, Manitoba. She was the second of 6 children born to Maggie (Volovick) and Michael Warachka. She leaves to mourn her children Edward Zamrykut (Doris Neufeld), Bryon Zamrykut (Nancy Russell), Colleen Zamrykut, Karen Braniski (Jamie), grandchildren Andrea Berlando (Ryan), Eric Zamrykut (Bethany), Ryan Braniski, Anna Braniski, Allyssa Zamrykut, great granddaughter Ramona Zamrykut, brother Michael Warachka (Sylvia), brother Joe Warachka, sister Fran (Joe) Mudry, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Fred, mother Maggie, father Michael, sister Marie Bilan, brother Rudy Warachka, and nephew Donald Bilan.

Mom grew up in Malonton, Manitoba and eventually moved to Winnipeg where she met our father, Fred. They were married for 64 years - until dad’s passing this past January. After raising her children and working as a Care Aid at Middlechurch Care Home in West St. Paul Manitoba, mom returned to school, in 1982, and studied in the nursing program at Red River Community College where she earned her LPN diploma. She enjoyed a career in nursing, which began at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg and continued at the MSA Hospital when the family moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1989. She retired from MSA Hospital in 2004.

Mom was always known as a caring and giving person. Whether a warm coat, a meal, or a warm place to stay, Mom was always there to provide what was needed no matter who needed help. It also seemed that every stray pet in the neighbourhood had a welcoming home with her. No one ever went hungry if she could help it.

Our family would like to thank the staff at The Residence in Mission (TRIM) and the Doctors and Nursing staff at Mission Memorial Hospital for the care and support they provided to our mom for the past months.

Viewing will be held on Friday September 11, 2026, at Henderson’s Funeral Home 34537 Marshall Rd, Abbotsford BC at 12:30pm. An interment will follow at Musselwhite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s memory to the Abbotsford Archway Community Services or the Parkinson’s Society British Columbia.
