His family then moved to Agassiz BC, Canada where the family continued to farm. Charles remained a bachelor to his early 50’s when he met and married Anne De Boer, who was a widow. Anne had 4 daughters from her first marriage who were grown and starting their own families. Charles and Anne were married in 1983 and were married for 31 years when Anne passed away in 2014. Charles loved Anne dearly. They had spent many years together in leadership at Glad Tidings Fellowship (now known as City Life Church in Chilliwack BC) as Elders.
Charles loved God and had a great passion for and understanding of scripture, he also had an eternally positive outlook on life. Charles passed away peacefully on May 5th at the Menno Home in Abbotsford in his 92nd year of life. He leaves behind 3 step daughters - Rosemary (Brian) , Hazel, and Paula (Henry) and their families, his sister-in-law Sharon, who was married to John, and their family. He was predeceased by his Mother Sophia, Father Otto, and brother John, also his wife Anne and one of her daughter's Joanne.
A celebration of life will be held June 8th at City Life Church ( in the Chapel) at 46641 Chilliwack Central Rd, Chilliwack BC on Saturday June 8th at 2 pm. Everyone is welcome - including the staff who cared for him at the Waverly in Chilliwack and the Menno Home in Abbotsford. Many thanks go out the all the staff and doctors who cared for Charles at the Waverly and at Menno Home and also at CGH in the past 7 months.
