Cornie's faith shaped his character, guided his decisions, and remained the foundation of his life.

In 1959, Cornie married Emilie Schroeder, and together they built a loving home and raised three children: Judy, Ron, and Doug. Family was at the centre of Cornie’s life. He faithfully prayed for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by name every day, demonstrating his deep love and commitment to each one.

He loved people, treasured friendships and was known for his kindness, generosity and genuine interest in the lives of others.

Following Emilie’s passing in 2019, Cornie continued to trust God’s faithfulness. In 2024 he moved to Primrose Gardens where he met many friends, including Frieda Hall, who he married September 2025. Her companionship brought much joy and happiness during their short time together.

As his health changed and gradually declined in the past several months, he met each challenge with quiet courage. Though his body grew weaker, his love, kindness, and strength of character never faded. Cornie passed away on June 6, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Cornie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many and will be deeply missed. Left to mourn is his wife, Frieda, his children Judy (Ivan), Ron (Cheryl), Doug (Karen), 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brothers Ernie, Nic, Rubin and Walter.

Cornie was predeceased by his first wife, Emilie, his parents Nicolai and Katherina, brothers Henry and John, and sister Margaret Neufeld.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford, British Columbia, on June 18, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
