

Family and Loved Ones
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, his children Michael Tiessen and Leanne Stenerson(Christopher), and his cherished grandchildren: Braedon, Caleb, Paris, Vienna, Ashlynn, and Cole. He will be dearly missed by his sister Brenda Irving (Jim), and his brothers Ken Tiessen (Sandra) and Brad Tiessen(Suzanne). He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Karen and Sharon, his brother-in-law Pat, his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Doreen, his father John Tiessen, his brothers Ron and David Tiessen, and his sister Sandra Tiessen-Kapelari.
Early Life
Dennis was born in Princeton, BC, on September 16, 1950. At age ten, his family moved to Merritt, where he enjoyed many happy moments with his siblings and friends. He graduated from Merritt Secondary School and went on to attend Simon Fraser University and worked at Craigmont Mines.
Marriage and Career
Dennis met his wife, Eileen, in Merritt, and they were married in 1972. Following their wedding, the couple relocated to Vancouver, residing in the West End during the initial years of their marriage.
At the age of 23, Dennis joined the Vancouver Police Department, where he took immense pride in his role as a member of the VPD. Throughout his career, he experienced many challenging and interesting situations that defined his professional life.
Family Joy and Accomplishments
Dennis had many interests and hobbies, which he maintained throughout his lifetime. Dennis enjoyed bike riding, swimming, gaming, and stamp collecting He was a natural athlete and participated in a wide range of sports including golfing, His love of the outdoors extended to camping and fishing, which were among his favourite activities. He found great joy in sharing time with his children and grandchildren. Dennis was a supportive presence at soccer games, swim meets, and baseball games, always cheering everyone on and celebrating their successes. He shared their enthusiasm for sports and was deeply proud of their achievements.
Retirement and Community Involvement
After 29 years of dedicated service, Dennis retired from the Vancouver Police Department in 2002, holding the rank of Detective. In retirement, he continued to serve his community by volunteering at Kinsmen Senior Centre and as a golf marshal at Coyote Creek Golf Club. Following his retirement, Dennis took the opportunity to travel and visit new places, including India, Italy, the Caribbean, and the Maritimes. In 2010, Dennis and Eileen purchased a 30-foot travel trailer, embarking on numerous adventures with friends and family. He camped throughout the Pacific Northwest, explored Utah, travelled south to Yuma, Arizona, and journeyed as far north as Alaska.
Later Years
In 2016, Dennis relocated to Sandstone Ridge in Abbotsford, BC where he was able to spend more time with his youngest grandchildren. In Abbotsford he discovered new biking and walking trails and many local eateries. He quickly made many friends in his new community and felt truly fortunate to have found a home across the street from the Ledgeview Golf Club.
