Edith Joanne Apperloo

Named after her dad, Edith Joanne was born to Elze Jan & Geertje Venema on June 8, 1948 in Lacombe Alberta. She was the sixth of seven children. Edith had three sisters and three brothers. She lived in Lacombe until she was five years old when her family moved to Mt Lehman, BC. She had fond memories of time spent in Mt. Lehman and would love to take drives through that area. Although Ted and Edith knew of each other for quite some time, it wasn’t until they ended up at the same wedding that he made his move and asked to drive her home. The rest is history. They dated for several years and got married on June 28, 1968. They settled on the dairy farm and grew their family.

Ted and Edith had four kids, Bruce, Karen, Tammy and Russell between 1969 and 1974. Edith worked on the farm alongside Ted and was an excellent homemaker. She volunteered with and headed up the school Women’s Circle, volunteered as a Calvinette leader and helped in many other church events, mostly providing food. Ted and Edith got to do quite a bit of traveling and often went south for the winters. They enjoyed time spent with their RV buddies. Edith loved to run errands, visit, and do daffodil delivery with her friends and sisters. Edith especially loved family time with her husband, kids, their spouses, 15 grandkids and six great grandkids. She was intentional about making memories with all of them. Edith was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and rarely put her own needs ahead of anyone else’s. She has been a role model for her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Edith was predeceased by her dad, mom, brother Gordie and two brothers who died in infancy.

Edith's memorial service will be held Thursday, June 1st 2023 at 2:30 PM at Gateway Community Church located at 2884 Gladys Ave, Abbotsford, BC V2S 3Y2
