She is survived by her three children, Arla (Longhurst) (Gary), Arden (Noreen) and Cheryl (Ford) (Douglas). Grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole (Ryan), Madison and Emma. Great grandchildren, Lily and Jack.
Edna is predeceased by her parents and her two sisters, Alma and Esther and infant grandsons, Matthew and Michael.
Edna’s father emigrated from Romania as a 13-year-old, together with his brother, Christopher. They had experienced the trauma of war and the loss of their parents. Edna was born in Englebright Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm in Golden Prairie, along with her brother, John, and 3 sisters, Alma, Esther and Ida. They lived through the hard times of the Depression on the prairies, but Edna remembers her life at home with fondness. She said, “We didn’t know any better, so we were happy”.
Edna married Harry on June 2, 1953 and together they raised 3 children in Saskatoon. The family later moved to a small town in Saskatchewan and then on to British Columbia in the early 1970’s and finally settled in Abbotsford where they made their home for 40 years. Edna’s passion was caring for others, which she did as an aide at St. Paul’s Hospital’s Maternity Ward in Saskatoon before she had her family and at Tabor Home in Abbotsford for 50 years, lovingly caring for the residents there.
Edna will be fondly remembered and missed by all those whose lives she touched.
