He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 57 years, Sylvia and their son Bruce, daughter-in-law Flo and grandsons James and Brett. He will also be remembered by sisters-in-law, Ann (Eric) and Rosalind (Irvin) from Abbotsford, brother Andrew, and sisters Nettie and Susan from Winnipeg. He is also remembered by many nieces and nephews that considered him their favourite uncle.
Ed was born in Carmen, MB on May 19, 1940 and grew up in southern Manitoba. After moving to Winnipeg in his late teens he worked in the automotive industry. Eventually, he moved Sylvia and Bruce to BC and settled in Yarrow in 1972. After a long career with the Department of Highways, he retired in 2003 and enjoyed his time away from work by travelling with Sylvia on numerous cruises and many road trips to the US. Ed and Sylvia loved their time in the car driving and seeing so much of God’s creation.
Ed was the first one to help anyone that needed it. He served through his church, community, MCC and anyone less fortunate than he was.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 1pm at Holmberg House, 32780 Marshall Rd. Abbotsford, BC. Please note that pay parking is available at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital parking lot adjacent to Holmberg House.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edward's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
