We were truly blessed to have Evelyn in our lives for the past 11+ years.  All who met her always will remember her sweet smile and her kindness.  She loved her Lord, her family, friends, children, listening to birds singing, flowers and the changing colors of the fall leaves.   She  talked often of her monthly family birthday celebrations in Chilliwack.  Unfortunately when covid came along she was unable to enjoy those visits.  Thankfully she did get to have a special day with them a couple of days before she was called home to be with Jesus and her dear friend Margaret.  We miss her and will always remember the special times we had.
Our sincere sympathy to her sisters, brother and her many neices and nephews.  She loved you.

A cake made with love for Auntie Evelyn’s 90th birthday party. She has such a wonderful time that day! 

You can see Auntie Evelyn between my parents, Bryan and Diana. This was at our family Christmas a few years ago. 

On December 22nd, we had a lovely Christmas lunch with Auntie Evelyn. The picture includes my Granny and my Dad, Bryan Murphy. 

Auntie Evelyn was always a special person to me from my earliest memories as an elementary aged child. Probably from the time I was 7 years old we had been penpals where we would share jokes and my favourite “down by the bay” rhymes. It was especially special to me when her and my daughter began writing each other many years ago. The joy she brought Ava when her kind and thoughtful letters were in the mailbox was heartwarming.  She brought joy to all of our lives and I sure appreciate the genuine interest she had in my life and my children’s lives. She came to dance shows, hockey games, Christmas concerts, First Communions and Confirmations. My children’s lives, as well mine and my husbands were made brighter with her soft and caring nature. She will be greatly missed. My favourite times with Auntie Evelyn were our quiet, one on one conversations we would have during our family celebrations. During these times we would talk about teaching, as we had this career in common. She was always interested in my class, my school  and my education, and I always had pictures or videos or stories to share with her. 

Auntie Evelyn was the most caring person. She was a main reason why I liked getting together at our family functions where we celebrated our birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I will miss her at those parties. Since I was little she has been my pen pal. Every month I waited for her to write back, and the days I did receive her letters it always made my day! I am very grateful that we celebrated Christmas early with her this year and that my family and I got to enjoy this one last day with her. 

Aunt Ev, Evelyn Rita Moore, was not our biological aunt. 
   However, Aunt Ev, as we always called her, became a very important member of our family,  through her close relationship with our Aunt Margaret Hodgins. They lived and taught together in many different locations across Canada.
   Aunt Ev travelled to Ontario with Aunt Marg many times to visit our families and attend weddings and family functions.
   She was always so loving and caring and we were so proud to call her Aunt.
   Out thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Ev’s family.

First, Pam, I loved your fairy story. Thanks for sharing it here. I don't have any specific story, but I have very fond feeling memories of Auntie Evelyn over the course of my childhood and in adulthood. And I know she influenced me in a good way. I'm including this picture because Evelyn loved flowers and animals and children and ... well everything pretty much, and I believe the wild rose is the flower of Alberta where Evelyn's life began.

I did not really get to know Evelyn until she retired from teaching and retired in Abbotsford BC.  After having many pleasant conversations with her at family functions I could not help but feel that anyone would be hard pressed to find a kinder and gentler soul.

Aunty Evelyn was one of the rare angels that walked on earth.

One of my fondest childhood memories was when we were visiting Grandma and Grandpa at Buck Lake and Aunty Evelyn was there for a visit as well. I believe I had just started school.

She took me for a walk, and I remember how warm and soft her hand was as she held my hand in hers. We went looking for the fairies in the mushrooms. She would have me bend down to listen very carefully for the fairies. And, sometimes, but not always, the fairies would speak briefly to me.

I believed! I really believed. It was truly magical!!

I honestly believed there were fairies and only my dear Aunty Evelyn could get them to talk to me as she was so special.

I am sure I was quite a pest trying to get her to go out looking for the fairies again and again. This is truly is one of my fondest and favourite childhood memories. I am grateful that I had shared this with her only a few years ago.

I will miss Aunty Evelyn's kindness, warmth and unconditional love.  My comfort is this wonderful lady is now amongst the real angels which was always her destiny. Everlasting love, Pam
