Gary Harold Naylor passed away on Sept 18, 2026. He was born in 1941 in Sherridon, Manitoba, to Gladys and Harry Naylor.
He spent most of his childhood right through to his university years in Edmonton, graduating from the faculty of PhysEd at the U of A in 1964.
He started teaching high school in Edmonton, but would go back and get his masters in PhysEd and eventually find himself back in Manitoba as head coach of the U of M football team.
Sports were his first passion, both as a player and a coach, until the late 70’s when he met Jesus. He was very passionate about his faith from then until his death.
In 1981 he took a position teaching in the PhysEd department of Trinity Western University in Langley, which aligned more with his strong evangelical leanings. He also volunteered coaching football well into retirement, including years as the defensive coach for the WJ Mouat senior football team in Abbotsford, BC.
He is survived by his devoted wife Carolyn, children Brad (Darlene), Chris (Judy), and Alyson (Mike), nine grandchildren (George, Rocky, Nick, David, Maggie, Dixie, Rees, Mitch and Connor), and two great-grandchildren, Miley and Ellis.
