Jacqueline Phare truly lived life on her own terms. A poet, artist, volunteer, and steadfast source of love and support, she approached life with a grounded spirit, an open heart, and a deep curiosity about the world around her. She was always willing to listen, learn, and grow, embracing the richness of different places, people, and ways of life.
To know Jackie was to know a kind of love that asked nothing of you but to be yourself. She had not a judgmental bone in her body and gave generously of her time, patience, and heart. She had a remarkable way of making people feel welcome, understood, and at ease.
A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mother, and grandmother, Jackie held a special place in the lives of so many. She understood the importance of family and worked hard to preserve its history, keeping the stories and connections between generations alive. She showed her love by being present, giving her time, and showing up for the people who mattered to her.
Through her travels, she found beauty in the world around her, from the cultures she encountered to the simple treasures nature left behind. She appreciated the character of a well-worn rock, a piece of driftwood, and the stories ordinary things could hold. She lived intentionally, knowing the value of protecting her peace, embracing life's joys, and always making room to help others.
Jackie was proud of the time she spent working in guidance at the university. She loved to get lost in a good book, a long swim, her favorite shops, or a beautiful landscape. She enjoyed a competitive card game and tried her luck in many a bingo hall.
Jackie leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, curiosity, laughter, and a life fully lived. She was a steady presence in the lives of those who knew her, and her influence will live on in the stories she preserved, the people she supported, and the countless ways she made others feel loved. We were so lucky to have her, and we will carry pieces of her with us always.
