On December 8, 2021, at 12:10 pm Jerry Gee Gin Yee (born February 27, 1960) went up in a chariot of fire to be with the Lord. His passing was quiet and yet resounding; peaceful and yet exuberate, and in total submission to the Lord. As he passed, he listened to his favorite band, The Beach Boys. We celebrated his life with tears and laughter. He will be missed by not just his family but his friends and the people he touched. His passing has ripped a hole in the community. Jerry decorated hundreds and hundreds of children's birthday cakes in his lifetime. He helped many couples celebrate their wedding with a handmade cake. In his craft he had achieved an artistry not just in pastries but in breads and loafs. His training was European, but his craft was entirely inspired by his customers tastes including a variety of influences such as Dutch, German, and Russian artisanal styles and rounded out with Mennonite sensibilities.
He was a beloved husband, helper, and friend to Laurie Yee. He was so proud of his kids. He left behind tens and tens of friends. It was quick and like lightening it was finished. His heart was for the Peace Region. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he spent every summer outside living his best life. He loved the crisp of Autum, the dead heat of summer, the frigid touch of winter, and the life renewal of spring. He was truly free and happy here; he had a want for nothing and was happy to share it with those around him. He leaves a wife (Laurie), a daughter and her husband (Leah and Joe), a son (Andrew) and two grandchildren (Iver & Boudewijn) and numerous friendships. His love and friendship will be forever missed. No date has been set for his memorial service but will take place this summer.
