I was saddened hearing the news of John's passing. Felix was nice enough to let me know. I was with asplundh from 1991-2002  and most of that time I ran the big stick doing removals.  I worked about half of my time there for John. John was a good guy to work for. I respected him and he was respectful.  He let guys run there jobs and contracts without putting pressure on you for the things that really didn't matter. John was great. He always made sure we had everything we needed to get the job done right.  John wasn't just my boss he also was a friend.  We went out after work hours a few times and always had fun. For many years John liked to go 4x4ing up at ledgeview the day of the SuperBowl.  John had a beast of a 4x4 and so did his brother Dan. You need a good truck up at ledgeview. There were many deep holes and crazy mud. The best was one SuperBowl Sunday. John picked me up in his big old truck and went and met Dan in his truck up at ledgeview.  The brothers were really competitive when it came to playing in all that mud. So off we go doing some crazy 4x4ing. Going through deeper and deeper mud holes. Both brothers arguing how their truck is better. Finally it was Dan who got stuck in the deepest mud hole. He couldn't get him self out on his own.  John took his truck and did some doughnuts around Dan's covering it in more mud. We then set up John's truck so Dan could winch off John's truck. We tried to winch it out a few times but Dan's truck wouldn't move. Finally John said watch this.  With the winch cable still on  John  put his truck in reverse and gunned it backwards... Ripped the whole steel bumper and winch set up off of Dan's truck... Not good but at the same time it popped Dan's truck out of the mud. We all laughed really hard. We threw the bumper and winch in the back of his truck. John declared his truck was best. We got out of there grabbed some more beers and went to Dan's to watch the SuperBowl game. Good times and even more good memories. Rip John

Helen and family..I am sorry for your loss...Janice Evans

I won’t ever forget my uncle and what he did for me.  He helped me through hard times and the good. I can still remember all the great moments we had together as a small child. I will miss him very much, I love you Uncle John. Until we meet again, rest in peace. 

My heart weighs heavy for my Auntie Helen and the boys. Sending love and strength to the family.
