

Merrill shared 45 years of marriage with the love of his life, Lynda, whom he married in November 1980. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, love, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Merrill leaves behind his cherished wife, Lynda; his children, Elmer, Bradley (Sonya), Brandon, and Shaunna (Martin); and his beloved grandchildren: Austin, Alex, and Aiden; Danielle, Keith, Rachael, Brent, and Steven; and Carly.
He was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren.
Merrill was predeceased by his sister, Mandy Johnston, and is survived by his brother, Brian Johnston.
He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. Merrill left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the family he loved so deeply.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Craig Thiessen for the many visits, prayers, friendship, and encouragement he provided during Merrill’s final months. Craig’s faithful presence brought Merrill great peace, comfort, and strength during a difficult season.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at
2:00 p.m. at Ross Road Community Church, located at 3160 Ross Road, Abbotsford, British Columbia. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Merrill’s life and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.
