

Mervin Alexander McRorie --Jan 28 1926-July 8 2015, passed peacefully at the Bradley Centre in Chilliwack, BC. Born in Senlac, SK to Norman and Annie McRorie he grew up on the farm with his brothers Bert, Les, Wendell and Aubrey and sisters Dorothy and Reta. The family moved to Penticton in 1936 and in 1943 Mervin enlisted in the Canadian Army. He served in Britain and Northwest Europe before being demobilized in 1946, returning to civilian life in Vancouver BC. Soon after, he worked as a milkman before going into the trucking industry where he would stay until 1984.
Mervin married his wife Maxine in 1993 and they had 14 years together in Chilliwack before Maxine passed in January of 2008 . An avid gardener, he loved to go dancing and bowling with Maxine; travelling around BC to visit family and friends. A long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion they would often go dancing there or to hear their favourite bands. In 2009 he moved to the Lynnwood in Chilliwack enjoying cards and socializing with many friends. In 2014 failing health took him to his final home, The Bradley Centre, the wonderful staff have our gratitude and appreciation for the care he received while there. He will be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour, always leaving them with a smile.
He is survived by two children Cheryl (Dean), Brian and their mother Georgina, step children Frances, Mae (Basil), Carle(Vicki), Shella (Doug, deceased), Ellen (Dick, deceased), Esther, Alys (Fritz); two grandchildren, many step grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:30 pm at the same location, with reception to follow a graveside service.
