Norma June Bavalis

Norma was predeceased by her father Diedrich Friesen, mother Elsie Friesen, sisters Janie and Peggy, and brothers Donald and Arnold. Left behind to cherish her memory are sisters Fran, Sharon, Edith, and brother Elmer. And continuing her lead of love and kindness are her daughters Michelle Bavalis, Amanda McKeigan, Lisa St. Andrassy, and Julie Bavalis.

Generosity and her grandchildren were Norma’s love languages. She is survived by the lights of her life: her 10 grandchildren, Elijah, Nathan, Emma, Ava, Seth, Mona, Violet, Hazel, Michel, and Tyler. As well as all the bonus grandchildren who knew her as Grandma.

Norma thoroughly enjoyed her years as a stay-at-home mom raising her daughters. When the time came, she joined the workforce as a long-standing employee at Loomis Courier Service/DHL, where she will be missed by the many friends she made over the years. Her retirement years were filled with her grandchildren, her favourite part of her career.

The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate Abbotsford Cancer Clinic, Abbotsford ER & Palliative Care, the incredible Abbotsford Hospice doctors, nurses, cleaning and kitchen staff, as well as the volunteers for their care. A truly soft place to land and our family is grateful.

As Norma did not want a funeral, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Yes, there will be flamingos and steeped tea.

In lieu of flowers and in the generous spirit of Norma, donations to the BC Cancer Society - Fraser Region or Abbotsford Hospice & Grief Support Society will be gratefully accepted.
