Pat was born in Nordin, New Brunswick but grew up in Newcastle, New Brunswick. She had 9 brothers and sister. At the age of almost 5 is where her true love story begins and where she would meet her adopted parents, Cecil and Edith Greenough, a loving Protestant couple.
Pat would be riding her beat up old broom (or as she called it her “horsey”) and Cecil would walk by often. She thought of him as her real life cowboy referring to him as “Dat do cowboy?” Day after day he’d walk by, always responding with “Hi, there!” One day in her young voice she said, “I’m going home with do Cowboy!” Because of hardships during these times, the children were all taken away. Cecil who had grown ever so fond of her, went home and told his wife, Edith, “We’re bringing the little black-haired girl, Patsy, home.”
Due to circumstances, it took until December of 1949 for the courts to finally grant Cecil and Edith Greenough the adoption of Pat. She settled in right away on December 29, 1949. “It was a match made in heaven”. They always attended the Salvation Army church.
At 9 years old, Pat and her family moved to Nova Scotia, eventually building a home in Bedford, NS.

In 1968 she graduated from Vancouver Vocational institute earning her License Practical Nursing Diploma.

First at Richmond General Hospital for 8 years, then to senior homes and also as a home care aid in the later years.
