

Patrick Joseph
Patrick Joseph Mckinley was born on September 27th 1920 in Castleblayney County Monahan Ireland. He passed away peacefully in Abbottsford B.C. on February 11th 2008. Pat was the 6th of 13 children born to Lawrence and Mary McKinley.
Pat's family immigrated to Canada from Ireland in May of 1928.
His early years were spent in Edmonton Alberta with his family.
Pat was a very proud member of the Royale Canadian Legion. He served in World War II for 5 years in North Africa, Italy and Holland.
His memory of his service during these years made an impact on Pat and he often shared many of his experiences with his family and those close to him.
In 1946 Pat met his bride Alma Mcfeeters in Edmonton Alberta. They were married four months later on August 19th 1946 in Calgary Alberta.
They had 4 children 3 son's and 1 daughter. Lawrence the eldest married to wife Mary, Dennis the 2nd eldest married to wife Leslie , Gerald his youngest son (predeased by Patrick in September of 1976) and daughter Mary. Pat moved his wife and young family to the United States in the summer of July 1962. They owned and operated 2 hotels in San Francisco California and eventually moved his family to Portland Oregon where they purchased a Motel and finally his last business venture was a bar/restaurant in Portland. Pat was a very hard worker and always provided for his family. His business ventures always included the family which made for lots of memories.
Pat and Alma celebrated over 61 years of marriage and staying closely to one another they overcame many of life's trials and tribulations.
Having lived through the Depression and in looking back on his life he often said that he and Alma had seen the "Best" and "Worst" of times.
Pat and Alma moved back to Canada in 1998. They made there home in Abbottsford B.C.
Patrick was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchilden.
All he held close to his heart.
Patrick was very proud of his Irish heritage and made sure that all of his children visited his place of birth in Ireland. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, his stories, songs and limericks will stay with loved ones forever. Of course he will also be remembered for his love of Ireland.
He was a very compassionate man and had a great unconditional love for his family. "When Irish Eye's Are Smiling" describes our loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Greatgrandpa, Uncle and Friend.
He will be missed! "Until We Meet Again"
