How do you put into words a man who meant everything to us?
Paulo was the love of my life, my best friend, my partner in everything, and the most incredible husband, father, Papa, brother and friend.
On November 7, we would have celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. What an incredible life we built together. We had the best banter, constantly teasing and roasting each other, and absolutely nothing slipped by without a comment! Beneath all that laughter was a beautiful friendship, honest communication, and a love that carried us through everything. We were partners through and through.
Paulo was truly one of the happiest people I have ever known. His family was his everything. He made each of us feel safe, loved, and free to be exactly who we were, always encouraging us to believe in ourselves and be the best we could be. He was our greatest cheerleader.
Alissa, Sophia and Teo were his pride and joy. He loved them fiercely and was so proud of the people they had become. His grandson, Morris, brought him an entirely new level of happiness, and being Papa was a role he absolutely treasured.
His brothers, Reno and Rodney, were also his best friends. He cherished every moment they spent together, sharing stories, laughter, and a bond that was truly special.
Paulo's love of family was rooted in the values passed down by his late parents, Giorgio and Marjorie, and shared with his late in-laws, Alastair and Lynne. Their love and devotion to family will live on through the generations.
Paulo loved nothing more than breaking bread with family and friends. Good food, great company, and laughter around the table were his idea of a perfect day.
He also had a lifelong passion for cars and had recently purchased his dream retirement project, a 1969 Mustang Boss 302. He was lovingly rebuilding it with his brothers, keeping everything true to its original roots, of course! The excitement made him glow from head to toe.
Paulo knew where to find the cheapest gas, took pride in keeping everything in perfect working order, and maintained a pristine lawn. Although, he would surely regret never winning his ongoing war against the moles!
If you were travelling, Paulo was tracking your flight every mile of the way, just as excited about your adventure as you were. That was his way of loving us, always making sure we were safe.
Paulo leaves behind his loving wife, Alison; his children, Alissa (Shaun), Sophia (Conor), and Teo (Lauren); his grandson, Morris; his brothers, Reno (Debra) and Rodney (Julie); his niece Sydney (Noah) and nephews Luciano (Jeanette) and Nicholas. He was also blessed with a wonderful extended family who loved him dearly: Bruce, Toni, Riley (Krissy, Willa) Alex, (Lindsey) Nicki, Gord, Taryn (Yaw), Gavin, Morgan (Sam) along with many dear friends.
Our hearts are broken, but how incredibly fortunate we were to have been loved by such an extraordinary man.
My love, my best friend, my partner in everything. Thank you for the beautiful life we shared, the laughter, the adventures, and the incredible family we built together.
We will carry your love with us in every adventure we take, every meal we share, and every dream we chase.
We will be having a private family ceremony and hosting a Celebration of Life for Paulo in Spring 2027 for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Archway Abbotsford Food Bank would be appreciated.
Forever our Paulo. Forever loved. Forever in our hearts.
