Louise, just days after her 82nd birthday, passed peacefully at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Center. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Born and raised in a loving home in New Victoria, Cape Breton, N.S to the late Joseph and Mary (MacNeil) Poirier.
In 1981, she and her family moved West, making Abbotsford, B.C. their home.
For 62 beautiful years, Louise was the devoted and loving wife of Harold. Together they built a life rooted in faith and family. As the ultimate homemaker, she created a sanctuary where everyone was welcome, well-fed and deeply loved. She poured that same nurturing spirit into her passions as an avid gardener who could coax life out of any soil. She was an incredible book/baker whose kitchen always smelled of warmth and comfort. Many homes and friends benefitted from her delicious baked goods and homemade jams.
A devoted woman of faith, Louise lived her beliefs every day through her many acts of generosity. She was entirely selfless with her time, always quietly lifting the spirits of others without seeking praise or recognition.
Her greatest joy was her family. Survived by her husband, Harold, her daughter, Linda (Olivier) North Vancouver, B.C., sons, Gus, Red Deer, Alberta, Mike (Erin) Abbotsford, BC, grandchildren, Riley, Bennet and Cameryn and great grandson Jaxon. Always a devoted sister, she leaves to mourn, sister Eileen (Harold-D), Baddeck, N.S., brothers Fred (Ruth-D) New Waterford, N.S., Hector (Rodena) Cochrane, Alberta, sister-in-law Anita (Dave-D) New Glasgow, N.S., as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to loving parents, Joseph and Mary, predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter, Brianne Dawe, brothers, Wally (Rita-D), Dave, and sister Linda.
Louise was a dear friend to many. Known for her kindness and compassion, a truly special person who will be missed more than words can express.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Street, Abbotsford, B.C., September 22, 2026 at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Cape Breaton, N.S., date to be announced.
