She will be greatly missed by her three children, Sharon Thorne (Pat), Glen Thorne (Lilly), and Mary-Anne Fish (Mike). She is survived by her two siblings, Roger and Laurent Lemieux. She is predeceased by one grandson and survived by eight other grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Rejeanne (Rae) was born and raised in Temiscaming Quebec, the daughter of Lauria and Annette Lemieux (Boucher), one of 6 siblings.
In her early years, Rae worked for Bell Canada as one of the only bilingual telephone operators in the early 1950’s. It was there in Toronto that she met her future husband, Philip Thorne
(d. 1983). Jobs transfers and life led her and the family to North Bay, Thunder Bay and Ottawa. After her retirement she moved to Abbotsford, B.C.
She loved music and singing. Rae delighted in appearing with the Lakehead Choral Group in productions such as The Sound of Music, Mikado, Oklahoma and Brigadoon. Later in life she sang in church choirs in Ottawa and Abbotsford.
Rae, a fitness buff, became a Fitness Instructor and Manager of a number of Health Clubs in Ottawa. Her many clients loved her enthusiasm, as well as her commitment to them and their well-being.
Her many friends and relatives will miss her warm smile, abundant energy and spirit.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave, Abbotsford.
