Richard "Bob" Robert Blair Mendieta

Bob will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lucia Vandenberg; his sisters, Patsy Heffel and Marie Bell; his son, Brian Mendieta; his daughter, Kimberly Haldane; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Unger; his eight cherished grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Bob spent 35 years at CP Rail, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and hard work. He took pride in his career and was someone who could always be counted on, never missing a day of work throughout those many years.

Bob was a giant kid at heart, bringing joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder into the lives of those around him. He had a positive outlook on life and always looked for the good in every situation. He woke up every morning humming and singing, welcoming each new day with gratitude and happiness.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life and loved staying active. Whether he was out for a long walk, swimming, traveling to new places, or enjoying time with family and friends, Bob embraced every moment. He lived his life to the fullest right up until the end, making the most of every day with the same positivity, kindness, and appreciation that defined him.

Bob was a kind and gentle man who made those around him feel comfortable. He will be remembered for the kindness he showed to others and the positive way he approached life.

Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of kindness, positivity, and love will continue through his family and the countless lives he touched.

Celebration of life arrangements are still being made and will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
