Robert, better known to all as Bob, peacefully died on June 27, 2025. He had just recently celebrated his 85th birthday. Bob lived a life defined by resiliency, generosity, and adventure.
Bob was born and raised in Ontario. In his late teens he travelled to Vancouver, BC, where he fell in love with Dorothy and settled down to raise his family.
With only a grade six education, Bob worked a variety of jobs before deciding he needed to be his own boss. He was the owner of Power Matic Brakes in Vancouver, and later, Herb’s Auto Wrecking & Towing after moving to Abbotsford.
Bob was a self-determined and often stubborn man. He was also very caring and generous to his family and friends. With his vibrant personality he made friends wherever he went. Bob took great pride in sharing his thoughts (“I’ll tell you”), his car knowledge, a meal, and a good time with all.
Bob is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 65 years, and his three daughters: Gail, Louise (Bill), and Pauline (Dean). He was also the loving Grandpa of Charles, Melissa, Racheal, Robby, Yousuke, and Stephen, and the proud GGpa of six great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Khalan, Arias, Arja, Ardun, and Akton.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Monday, July 14, 2025. A private viewing will begin at 12:00 followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Interment to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. All are welcome to attend.
