It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Kwak, who passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the Holmberg Hospice House in Abbotsford, BC, at the age of 75, following a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.
Bob was born on August 13, 1950, in Abbotsford, BC, to Frank and Lena Kwak. He grew up on the family dairy farm before moving to Matsqui, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong work ethic, determination, and integrity that would define his life.
He built a successful career as a welder before founding BK Tree Service with his brother Brian in 1981. After selling the business in 2015, he devoted himself full-time to Central Valley Arborist Consulting, a company he had established in 2005 and operated until illness forced his retirement in 2025.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ruth; his sons, Larry (Corinna) and Cory (Lisa); his stepdaughters, Emily Karmason (Brent), Amanda Wieler (Tim), and Amber Balzer (Mark); his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Sandy (Peter); his brothers, Brian and Mark (Marlene); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, skiing, travelling, and spending time with family and friends. Bob generously supported children's charities, Holmberg Hospice House, Ducks Unlimited, the Wild Sheep Society, and many other charitable organizations.
Bob will be remembered for his compassion, strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He touched countless lives and leaves a lasting legacy of integrity, loyalty, and enduring friendship. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
