

Bob was born in 1932 in Wadena, Saskatchewan. He was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and love of a good prank. He found joy in the outdoors and never turned down a good glass of whiskey—or a good ribeye steak—shared with family or friends.
Bob was regarded by many as a “genius” in the oil industry. He was a visionary in designing and initiating seismic programs in unexplored areas for oil and gas potential, and his insight and innovation left a lasting mark on those who worked with him.
Bob will be remembered for his laughter, his storytelling, and the way he brought lightness and humor to those around him.
He had a way of making people smile and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Christina Rands; his son, Robert Oberg Jr.; his daughter, Susan Shepard (Ray); his stepson, Jonathan Rands (Janise); his grandson, Bobby Cole Oberg; and several nieces and nephews.
No formal funeral will be held. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
