Ron was born in Vancouver and spent his childhood and teen years in South Burnaby. At eighteen, he left home to join the army, beginning a twenty-nine-year career that took him to several Canadian bases and overseas postings in Germany, Cyprus, and Egypt. During his time in the armed forces, Ron trained to operate heavy equipment, a skill that served him well throughout his life.
After retiring from the army, Ron worked in the City of Abbotsford’s engineering department, operating equipment to help maintain city infrastructure.
Although his family once thought Ron might remain a lifelong bachelor, he met Evelyn Yuzik, and together they built a happy and fulfilling life until his passing.
Ron and Evelyn enjoyed visiting family in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, as well as vacationing in Mexico and Hawaii. They often golfed together, and Ron was a devoted partner who helped Evelyn with gardening and caring for their home.
Ron was an enthusiastic sports fan and especially loved the BC Lions.
Ron will be remembered with deep love for his humour, kindness, patience, and devotion to Evelyn. He was a good son, step father and a great brother and uncle.
