1 December, 1948 - 21 January, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Susan Elizabeth Cousins who left us on 21 January 2025.
She is forever loved & will be missed by her husband Lester, son Kevin (Aileen), daughter Kelly (Brad), and grandchildren Carter, Chloe, Keagan & Kennedy.
Susan’s life began on 1 December 1948 in Brockville, Ont. to parents Edgar & Francis Pryer. She grew up in a family of 6 children. Her parents, 3 brothers (Gary, Bobby, David) and in-laws (Howard, Johnny, Elsie, Donald & Vicki) predeceased her in death.
Left to mourn her passing are her brother Bill (Betty), sister Barb, in-laws Larry, Frieda, & Andy (Kathy), her nieces, nephews, their families, plus many relatives & friends.
Susan grew up in Brockville which is where she met Lester by chance in February 1968 at a restaurant. They dated & later married on 1 August 1970. Soon after they moved out west to B.C. & eventually settled in their forever home in Abbotsford where they lived a full life & raised two great kids.
She worked in many offices from RBC to ICBC, before choosing to stay home with the kids when they moved to Abbotsford. In the late 80’s she went back to work for Homelife Realty doing their conveyancing. She loved her many years working.
Susan was a force to be reckoned with she was feisty, strong-willed, smart, loyal, hardworking, fun-loving & so much more.
She had an amazing laugh, gave the best hugs, she always knew what to say if you needed uplifting or maybe a swift kick in the pants. She had the best cha-cha dance when she was excited to get going & her unique name-calling will never be forgotten.
If Susan loved you she sure the heck let you know it!
Susan’s greatest passion & love in life were her kids & grandkids more than anything in this world. She loved & supported them fiercely & unconditionally!
She had an adventurous side & loved to travel. She was fortunate to visit many places, but her favorites were Hawaii & New Zealand where she loved spending time with her bestie. She also loved going to the casino in the US with her good friends.
Susan was a huge supporter & devoted a lot of her life to helping run and create Alateen & Al-Anon programs in Abbotsford. She loved and believed in these programs with her whole heart & all the amazing people she met and helped.
Unfortunately, Susan was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer in March 2024. She fought hard & went through a lot over the last 10 months. On her last admission into the hospital, Susan asked to be placed into hospice in Abbotsford (Holmberg House) on 15 January 2025. There she was treated with kindness, and respect & passed peacefully with her family by her side, only 6 days later.
Susan’s Spirit, Wisdom, and Joy for life will live on through those who loved & knew her.
*Susan requested no funeral. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Al-Anon & Alateen programs in Abbotsford.
