It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Terry (Terence) Sheldrake on June 20, 2026, following a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Terry's legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born in Victoria, British Columbia, on February 28, 1973, Terry was the youngest son of William (Bill) and Shirley Sheldrake and grew up alongside his older brothers, Chris and Kent.
Terry built a career in construction, where he earned the respect of everyone around him. As a leader, he was known for his leadership, work ethic, and incredibly high standards. He expected the best from his crews because he always expected the best from himself. Anyone who worked with Terry likely heard his signature line more than once: "It's my world & you're just living in it." Behind the joke was a leader who genuinely cared about his team, took pride in his work, and wanted everyone around him to succeed.
Three years ago, Terry took immense pride in beginning a new chapter by starting a family business alongside his wife, Tara, and his sons. Building something together as a family was one of his greatest accomplishments and brought him tremendous joy.
Family was everything to Terry. He shared 28 wonderful years of marriage with Tara, the love of his life, and was incredibly proud of his sons, Jayden and Ryan. Whether standing on the sidelines of soccer fields, cheering at BMX tracks, or watching from the stands at lacrosse arenas, Terry was there. He loved to support his boys, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow into the men they have become.
Terry will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, his dedication, and his ability to lead by example. He worked hard, loved deeply, and lived fully. Although his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the lives he touched will endure forever.
Terry will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 28 years, Tara; his sons, Jayden (Syrah) and Ryan; his mother Shirley, his brothers, Chris (Debbie) and Kent (Kim); along with his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends. His absence will be felt every day, but his spirit will remain in the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave so freely.
A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sky Hangar, 18799 Airport Way, Unit 170, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. – Doors to open at 1:30
Please wear your favorite Tommy Bahama, Hawaiian "party" shirt as Terry would have loved that!
The family warmly invites all who knew Terry to join them in celebrating a life well lived, sharing stories, laughter, and the countless memories of a remarkable husband, father, brother, friend, and leader.
In Lieu of flowers the family invites donations to a youth sports organization of your choice or the SPCA.
